09 Sep Breaking News: Arrest After Woman Found in Freeport
An alleged assault–likely in Freeport– has now led to the arrest of a man from Eliot. 59-year-old Wayne Covington is charged with domestic violent assault in connection with injuries to a woman found early this morning lying along the southbound ramp of the Desert Road exit of Interstate 295. The woman, whose name is not being released, is a Kittery resident first spotted by a state transportation crew and may have been assaulted in a car in which she was a passenger.
Covington was taken into custody by Eliot police and then arrested by a state trooper. He’s now at the Cumberland County Jail.
