14 Aug Breaking News: One Dead After Thursday’s 4-vehicle crash in Woolwich

One of those injured in Thursday afternoon’s four-vehicle crash on Route 1 in Woolwich has now died. 84-year-old Paul Simpson of Bradenton, Florida was a passenger in a vehicle operated by his 70-year-old wife Gloria, which collided with another vehicle that had been struck from behind and pushed into their lane. Simpson was originally taken to Midcoast Hospital with a head injury and then transferred to Maine Medical Center. The accident remains under investigation by Sagadahoc County sheriff’s deputies. When that probe is complete, the case will be reviewed by the district attorney’s office.
