It’s a difficult situation, which is easily viewed from very different perspectives. Brunswick school board members in recent years have made some significant personnel cuts, which are often not noticed or forgotten as the cost of health insurance and special education drive the overall budget higher. And now town councilors, caught up in a moment of inflation and rising costs eveywhere we look, are wanting more cuts.
In the midst of all this, Brunswick School Superintendent Phil Potenziano has laid out three tiered reduction plans for school board consideration, and talked about this year’s budget challenges on today’s WCME Midcoast Morning Buzz.
*Note–The most important question, which has less to do with the budget, comes at the very end of this conversation.
