About This Project

On today’s WCME Midcoast Morning Buzz, Mt. Ararat High School Principal Chris Hoffman, suggesting that we may never see the full text of the newly issued report on the hazing that went on among members of the Ararat boys hockey team, because it contains a great deal of what Hoffman refers to as “personal identifying information.” So far a two-page executive summary has been issued, which leaves open the questions of possible further discipline, a response to the situation and future preventive efforts.

Hoffman has begun to formulate a response plan with help from the research group StopHazing, which has also been utilized by other school districts, including Brunswick.

Hoffman also says he would think carefully before ever again implementing a plan for interim coaching and athletic activity involving a team undergoing a similar investigation.

Such a plan was attempted in the midst of this investigtion and was subsequently canceled after conflict among parents of team members.
