In Bath, police have made an arrest in connection with an incident last week that may be reflective of one of everyone’s worst fears–the discovery of a burglar in one’s home. Police say a 28-year-old woman came home to her house on Cherry Street only to find a man sitting on her couch exposing himself. She apparently ran upstairs to a bedroom, retrieved a handgun for protection and called 9-1-1. A few hours later, thanks in part to the use of a police dog, 55-year-old Stephen McIntire of Bumpy Hill Road was arrested and charged with burglary, aggravated criminal trespass and other counts.
Police say McIntire has a past sexual assault conviction and was sent to the regional jail in Wiscasset with bail set at ten thousand dollars.
