On today’s WCME Midcoast Morning Buzz, Cumberland County District Attorney Jackie Sartoris says she knows of “a couple of incidents” during the enhanced immigration enforcement in Maine by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement)–incidents that went “over the line” and would be considered criminal conduct, which she has promised to prosecute.
However, she also says she has no identification of the agents, which is a requirement to bring any charges, and she says the lack of identification stems from the fact that the agents were wearing masks.
ICE agents engaged in enhanced enforcement activity over several days in January, and made nearly 200 arrests, but the vast majority of those arrested had no criminal records.
